Guidelines to the requirements for securing admission into Temple School

Admissions Policy

These are guidelines to the requirements for securing admission into Temple School.

Requirements:

Age:
Children seeking admission to the following classes must have attained the class age by August 31st of the year of admission:

Early Years and Foundation Stage:

Baby Room 6mths
Crèche 1+ years
Preschool 1 2+ years
Preschool 2 3+ years
Reception 4+ years

Academic Requirements: The academic criteria for admission are:
  • Entrance form must be purchased, completed and submitted along with a copy of the birth certificate and a passport picture before the entrance examination.
  • Pupils seeking admission from Reception to year 12 must take an entrance exam.
  • Reception children are assessed in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Preschoolers do not take an assessment but we encourage parents to let the child spend a day with us in the intended class to observe and ascertain where they are in their learning journey.

The following documents must be submitted along with the registration form:

Reference
A confidential Report must be completed by the students’ school for students applying for space in Years 5 and up.

Parent’s Contact Information
It is important for the school to be able to contact parents at any time, especially in case of emergencies. The school must have parent’s address (office and home), Phone numbers (home, mobile and business), and e-mail. The school should also be provided with the contact of a guardian in case of emergency. This information is required at the time of registration and whenever changes occur in the contact information of parents or the emergency contact.

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

  • Pick up registration from any section of the school (Early Years/Primary/Secondary). See respective addresses below.
  • Forms cost N10,000 (Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary), N15,000 (Secondary) and N20,000 (College)
  • Submission must be done before the entrance examinations which will be indicated at the time of purchase
  • A current passport photograph
  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • The previous term’s report card
  • A medical report after admission is offered
  • A visit to the school can be arranged for the prospective student and their parents. During this visit the student will be taken on a tour of the school and the parents will have the opportunity to speak with the Head of School and/or the sectional heads. Arrangements can also be made for the student to spend the day in the school.

  • The entrance exams take place in December and in April. As stated earlier, students who pass the entrance examinations may be invited in for an interview.
  • Offer letters will be sent to the successful students. The tuition fees must be paid on or before the first day of the term
  • On a designated day before resumption, which will be communicated to new Temple families, students and their parents will be formally introduced to Temple School life and given the school calendar for the school year. The Meet and Greet programme at the beginning of each new session will also enable the new students and their parents meet their teachers and members of management.
