Through informed activities, discussions, group work, co-operative teamwork, creative play and other independent activities, the children’s learning builds on the foundation in reading, writing and numeracy that will help them in their subsequent classes.
They also begin to work independently, with minimal assistance.
Our children in the Reception class begin to use their developing memory skills to recite poetry and re-tell stories read to them during the school day.
As the Foundation Stage for Primary school, the experiences the Reception children receive are centred around building the necessary social, emotional and academic skills that will make the transition into primary school seamless.
